| Escher's World is named for the Dutch print-maker
M.C. Escher who explored the nature of patterns and symmetry in his woodcuts
and lithographs. Though he was respected by both mathematicians and scientists,
he had no formal education in either math or science. In fact, he considered
himself neither an artist or a scientist.In the years since his death in
1972, M.C. Escher's work has continued to fascinate people of all ages.
