Escher's world is a research project at the MIT Media Laboratory. Students from Boston's public schools come to the Media Lab for short but intensive studio workshops in mathematics. In these workshops, students explore the mathematics of symmetry in a very different context than their traditional geometry classes, learning mathematical concepts and artistic principles at the same time by making their own designs using computers as well as traditional media.

1995 Program
As part of the workshop data collection, facilitators made careful observations of students and took notes to record their impressions of workshop activities. The notes from one day are collected here as part of the Escher's World website. The notes have been edited to preserve confidentiality for the participants.
